Who Am I?

Welcome, my name is Joni Fisher and I am the owner of Happy Chance Counseling. My grandfather always used to say, life is about finding the happy chances, eccentricities, quirks, and serendipity in life. This has been a philosophy I adhere to through out my personal and professional life. I love working with all humans, but am particularly skillful with those who identify as perfectionists, are facing family system stressors or are on the cusp of a big life changes.

In 2009 I began studying Gestalt methodologies, and since then have been trained in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (for adults and children.) I work with individual adults, children over six years old and couples.

As a clinician I have worked in a variety of settings, including as a Social Worker in a level 1 trauma center, and in crisis assessments for adults and children. I currently work as a college educator, therapist, and psychiatric assessor. I have worked in private practice settings since 2018, but went to a sole practice setting in 2024. My practice prioritizes patient confidentiality, privacy and accessibility. I strive to make my office a safe and inclusive space for couples, individuals and children.

I graduated from the Ohio State University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2009. Since then I have become a licensed independent Social Worker with supervisory designation. I have training in Gestalt therapy, Hellinger Constellation Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I believe there is a therapeutic modality that can provide relief to every situation, the goal is just to find the right one! You are the expert of your own experience, my mission is to collaborate with you to find your own path to your happiest life.

I look forward to meeting you!
